Nvidia and FPT, a Vietnamese IT company, have joined forces to establish a $200 million artificial intelligence (AI) factory in Vietnam. The partnership, announced on April 23, aims to create a center for AI and cloud computing services in the region. The collaboration will leverage Nvidia’s latest technologies, including Nvidia AI Enterprise software and frameworks, and Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs, to drive AI research and development. The Nvidia AI factory will offer cloud GPU services to FPT’s corporate customers worldwide, providing them with access to essential resources for enhancing research capabilities, scaling AI applications, and achieving productivity and customer experience goals. The ultimate objective of the partnership is to position Vietnam as a global AI hub and accelerate the adoption of AI applications in neighboring countries such as Japan and South Korea. As part of this collaboration, FPT has become a Global Systems Integrator and a Service Delivery Partner in the “NVIDIA Partner Network.” This strategic move will enable FPT to leverage Nvidia’s advanced products and technologies to develop tailored cloud services, hardware, software, and generative AI solutions. Dr. Truong Gia Binh, FPT Corporation Chairman and Founder, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing FPT’s commitment to digital transformation, AI, cloud, and education. He stated that FPT aims to establish a comprehensive platform for cutting-edge AI and cloud-based products and services, surpassing global demands and working towards Vietnam’s vision to become a leading AI hub in the world. Keith Strier, Nvidia Vice President of Worldwide AI Initiative, highlighted the potential of AI to enhance lives and boost economies in various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, climate, and manufacturing. He emphasized that the collaboration between FPT and Nvidia will empower organizations in Vietnam to drive transformation and establish the country as a leader in AI technology. This partnership between FPT and Nvidia follows significant investments in the AI industry by other major tech companies. For instance, Microsoft recently invested $1.5 billion in AI-based company G42 in the UAE, enabling G42 to utilize Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform for its AI services and applications. Microsoft has also made substantial investments in AI industry infrastructure in Germany and Spain. Additionally, Amazon has invested $4 billion in Anthropic, a rival AI startup to ChatGPT. The AI sector is projected to reach a value of $184 billion by the end of 2024 and $826 billion by 2030, according to recent Statista data. These projections, along with the success of OpenAI’s GPT models, continue to drive investments from tech companies aiming to become leaders in AI innovation and income generation.
