Eugene Ng Fired by DWF Labs Amid Accusations of Drink Spiking
DWF Labs has made the decision to terminate Eugene Ng, one of its founding partners, following allegations of inappropriate behavior. The accusations, which emerged on social media, claim that Ng attempted to spike a woman’s drink during a business meeting at a bar in Hong Kong. The incident has generated significant attention, resulting in Ng’s immediate removal from his management and operational roles at DWF Labs. However, the company has not officially confirmed his identity.
DWF Labs Takes Action After Drink Spiking Allegations in Hong Kong
DWF Labs expressed its deep concern about the accusations in an official statement. “We are fully aware of the recent and deeply troubling allegations involving one of our partners, who has been accused of engaging in inappropriate and unacceptable behavior,” the company stated. This decision was followed by the removal of Ng’s profile from the company’s team page, indicating the seriousness with which DWF Labs is addressing the incident.
The alleged events occurred on October 24 during a meeting between the accused partner and a woman named Hana, who had connected with him for a professional discussion. According to Hana’s account, while she briefly left for the restroom, bar staff witnessed Ng putting something into her drink. When she returned and attempted to switch her drink, he allegedly prevented her from doing so. Hana subsequently chose to leave and later reported feeling dizzy, which only heightened her suspicion that her drink had been tampered with.
Hana also shared a disturbing detail, alleging that Ng tried to entice her to go to his accommodation. He suggested that he would take her to a taxi and subtly proposed that she join him in a suite. Hana further revealed that Ng implied she would not have a direct role in a cryptocurrency project.
Ng Faces Consequences as Social Profiles Disappear Amid Increasing Drink-Spiking Allegations
In response to the incident, Hana sought assistance from local authorities, who reportedly provided CCTV footage of the alleged drink spiking. Hana noted that the partner displayed a level of confidence in his behavior that indicated this might not have been his first instance of such behavior. She shared her experience and supporting evidence online, encouraging others to come forward.
Another user on social media, going by the name ‘Iris,’ claimed to have experienced similar tactics from the same individual, describing his approach as “extremely aggressive.” The repercussions for Ng extended beyond DWF Labs, as his social media accounts were swiftly made private and then deleted, and his LinkedIn profile was taken offline. Ng has a significant background in finance, having worked at Barclays, Citi, and Deutsche Bank before becoming a crypto industry advisor and the founder of real-world asset firm OpenEden. He also previously served as the head of business development in Asia at Gemini.
While the investigation into the incident continues, DWF Labs is distancing itself from Ng, and public interest and scrutiny surrounding the case remain intense.
