Louis Vuitton and Pharrell Williams have joined forces once again to venture further into the world of Web3 fashion. Their latest collaboration is a VIA NFT-linked varsity jacket, exclusively available to VIA NFT holders. The physical jacket, made from suede buckskin and adorned with the brand’s logo, made its debut at Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter 2024 men’s runway show in Paris earlier this year.
The VIA NFT project, introduced by Louis Vuitton in June 2023, offers customers the opportunity to purchase exclusive Web3 creations. Those who purchase the varsity jacket, priced at approximately $8,450, will also receive a digital twin in the form of a collectible NFT. Only 200 pieces of this digital counterpart are available. This release embraces the concept of “phygital” goods, where both physical and digital versions of a product are created and sold.
While the physical jacket is expected to be shipped to buyers by November or December of this year, the digital NFT can be purchased immediately. This latest collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Pharrell Williams highlights the fashion house’s commitment to Web3 fashion and the creation of exclusive NFT-based experiences.
Louis Vuitton’s previous Web3 launch was the VIA project, which allowed customers to purchase a digitized version of the iconic LV trunk for $41,000. The brand’s dedication to embracing emerging technologies in the fashion industry is evident in their exploration of the metaverse and their recent launch of a Discord server.
The Web3 fashion industry is projected to experience significant growth in the coming years. By 2031, it is estimated to reach $4.8 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of over 26%. Louis Vuitton’s forward-thinking approach to Web3 fashion positions them as pioneers in the industry and sets the stage for the future of luxury style.
