Mercedes-Benz NXT, the Web3 division of the German automotive giant, has teamed up with Mojito, a platform for creating NFT marketplaces, to launch a new NFT collection. The collection, titled ‘The Era of Technology’, is part of the company’s ‘Icon’ series, which consists of seven eras. A limited supply of 780 exclusive collectibles will be available for purchase starting May 21 at 18:00 CET. The minting period will last for seven days, until May 28. However, only collectors from certain countries will be able to participate due to regulatory and taxation requirements.
According to the press release, anyone can mint the NFTs at a price of 0.08 ETH. There are also discounts available for collectors of previous core collections and Superdackel holders. In addition, collectors of the Maschine and Mercedes-Benz NXT Eternities collections will receive mint passes, which allow for one free or reduced-price mint. The mint passes are burned after use.
The ‘Icon’ series is a tribute to Mercedes-Benz’s design heritage, with each era representing a different chapter in automotive history. The first era, titled ‘The Era of Luxury’, focuses on the brand’s current car production and its design legacy in the digital age. ‘The Era of Technology’, which is the second era, showcases six iconic cars produced from 2000 to 2017, including the Maybach Landaulet and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe. The collection features 62 distinct traits organized into five visible categories, allowing fans to own a digital version of their favorite Mercedes-Benz cars.
Mojito’s APIs and SDKs serve as the backbone of Mercedes-Benz NXT’s web3 infrastructure. The platform combines blockchain technology, NFTs, and user-friendly interfaces to provide a seamless experience. Mojito’s portal offers streamlined token creation, customized smart contract deployment, automated token distribution, tiered discounts using tokengating, and customer management and reporting. It also integrates WalletConnect and Metamask.
This collaboration follows Mercedes-Benz NXT’s previous collections, including Maschine, created in partnership with artist Harm van den Dorpel and Fingerprints DAO, and Eternities, available to a select group of Mercedes-Benz customers. The Superdackel collection pays homage to the iconic nodding dog dashboard toy ‘Wackeldackel’.
