Jimmy Zhao, a senior solution architect at BNB Chain, recently had a conversation with Matt Zahab, the host of the Cryptonews Podcast. During the interview, Zhao discussed various topics including BNB Chain, fully on-chain models, AI and DePIN projects, and their focus on gaming.
Firstly, Zhao clarified that BNB Chain and Binance are separate entities. While Binance is a user of BNB Chain, the team working on BNB Chain is responsible for the chain and projects built on top of it, not the exchange itself.
Next, Zhao discussed the One BNB Chain project which aims to integrate different chains and provide a unified platform for decentralized computing and data storage. The team plans to enhance scalability, improve interoperability, and make it easier for developers to build and deploy applications across multiple chains.
Zhao also mentioned their focus on reducing fees. He explained that the team has made performance optimizations to opBNB, the Layer-2 scaling solution for BNB Chain, which has resulted in significantly lower gas fees compared to Ethereum or BSC. He also mentioned the implementation of EIP-4844, which will further reduce Layer-2 transaction costs.
Looking ahead to 2024, Zhao discussed their plans for more Layer-2 innovations, with a focus on DeFi and increasing opBNB TPS to support high-frequency transactions. They also aim to introduce interoperability among different Layer-2 networks, enabling cross-chain DeFi and atomic transactions.
Additionally, Zhao expressed excitement about the potential of AI and blockchain technology, particularly in the field of data storage and labeling for AI training. He also mentioned collaborations with DePIN projects and their focus on providing infrastructure and technical support.
Finally, Zhao highlighted the team’s focus on the gaming industry. They aim to improve transaction times and reduce costs to enhance the gaming experience. BNB Greenfield, the storage layer of BNB Chain, can help address the challenges faced by game developers, including complex computations and storage requirements. The team is also exploring the development of a more innovative and developer-friendly software development kit (SDK) for game developers.
Overall, Jimmy Zhao provided insights into the various projects and initiatives being undertaken by BNB Chain, highlighting their commitment to innovation and the adoption of blockchain technology across different industries.
