Trust Wallet has been reinstated on the Google Play Store after being temporarily removed, causing concern among Android users. The crypto company announced the removal on its official page and informed users that they could download an Android Package Kit (APK) from the wallet’s website. The company assured users that their funds were safe and that those who had uninstalled the app would have to wait until it was relisted by Google. Trust Wallet expressed concerns about scammers creating fraudulent applications impersonating the wallet. However, within 30 minutes, Trust Wallet announced that it was back on the Google Play Store. The removal of Trust Wallet raised concerns among users due to increased regulatory pressure in the US regarding self-custody crypto wallets. Wasabi Wallets recently banned US-based users from accessing its services. While no direct announcement from US authorities was cited, the decision came shortly after the Department of Justice unveiled money laundering charges against the founders of Samourai Wallet. The status of self-custody crypto wallets like Trust Wallet as money transmitters remains unclear, potentially leading to increased enforcement actions.
