A recent survey has revealed that a staggering 80% of gamers in the United States are unfamiliar with blockchain video games and have never played them.
According to a poll conducted by Onepoll.com, the majority of American gamers remain oblivious to the features and potential benefits of blockchain games. 52% of participants admitted to never having heard of blockchain games, while 32% were aware of their existence but had not given them a try.
Lack of Awareness within the Gaming Community
The survey, which involved 2,000 adult gamers, unveiled that despite the ability to resell in-game purchases and other attractive features, many gamers have not yet explored the world of blockchain gaming.
Interestingly, the study found that 63% of respondents believe they should be entitled to refunds for in-game purchases if a game is shut down, while 34% think players should have a say in such decisions. These features are already offered by blockchain games.
The report highlighted that in 2023, more than 60 games and 11 game studios shut down, leaving gamers without any compensation for their in-game purchases. This has prompted gamers to seek solutions, which can be provided by blockchain gaming.
Furthermore, the study revealed that gamers heavily invest in virtual items, spending an average of $6,425.13 throughout their lifetime. On a monthly basis, the average gamer is willing to spend $8.74 on in-game resources, weapons, and extra lives.
Unstoppable Games Introduces Innovative Staknet-based Game
Cryptonews.com received a statement indicating that the survey was commissioned by game developer Unstoppable Games to coincide with the launch of their revolutionary new game, Influence, which is based on Starknet technology.
Unstoppable Games founder and CEO, Chris Lexmond, stated, “The ability to resell items purchased in-game and recoup some of the money spent is one of the key changes that the participants of the survey believe would enhance the gaming experience. As an industry, we need to improve in explaining that onchain games like Influence already offer these services and convince gamers to give them a try and fully embrace the blockchain gaming experience.”
