DWF Labs Fires Eugene Ng Following Accusations of Drugging Drinks
Eugene Ng, one of the founding partners of DWF Labs, has been dismissed from his position after facing allegations of inappropriate conduct. The accusations, which emerged on social media, claim that Ng attempted to spike a woman’s drink during a work-related meeting at a bar in Hong Kong. This incident has garnered significant attention and resulted in Ng’s immediate removal from his managerial and operational roles at DWF Labs, although the company has not explicitly confirmed his identity.
DWF Labs Takes Action Against Partner Involved in Drink Spiking Incident in Hong Kong
DWF Labs has released an official statement expressing deep concern over the allegations. The company stated, “We are fully aware of the recent and deeply troubling accusations made against one of our partners, who has been accused of engaging in inappropriate and unacceptable behavior.” In response, Ng’s profile has been swiftly removed from the company’s team page, underscoring the severity with which DWF Labs is addressing the situation.
The alleged incident occurred on October 24 during a meeting between the accused partner and a woman named Hana, who had connected with him for a professional discussion. According to Hana’s account, while she briefly left for the restroom, bar staff members observed Ng placing something into her drink. Upon her return, when she tried to switch her drink, Ng reportedly prevented her from doing so. Feeling suspicious, Hana decided to leave and later reported feeling dizzy, further fueling her belief that her drink had been tampered with.
Hana also shared a disturbing detail, alleging that Ng tried to lure her to his accommodation, suggesting he would escort her to a taxi and subtly proposing that she join him in a suite. Additionally, she claimed that Ng implied she would not have a direct role in a cryptocurrency project.
Ng Faces Consequences: Social Media Profiles Disappear Amid Growing Drink-Spiking Allegations
In response to the incident, Hana sought assistance from local authorities who reportedly provided CCTV footage of the alleged drink-spiking. Hana stated that the partner’s confidence in his actions suggested that this may not have been his first such incident. She shared her ordeal and supporting evidence online, encouraging others to come forward.
Another individual on social media platform X, going by the username ‘Iris,’ claimed to have faced similar tactics from Ng, describing his approach as “extremely forceful.” The repercussions for Ng extended beyond DWF Labs, as he promptly made his X account private and eventually deleted it. His LinkedIn profile has also been taken down.
Ng has an extensive background in finance, having previously worked at Barclays, Citi, and Deutsche Bank. He later became a cryptocurrency industry advisor and founded the real-world asset firm OpenEden. Prior to his role at DWF Labs, he served as the head of business development in Asia at Gemini.
As the investigation continues, DWF Labs remains distanced from the incident, while public interest and scrutiny surrounding the case continue to grow.
