He stated that the rapid emergence of new chains and roll-ups in recent years has made it difficult for users to keep up with and utilize each of these chains. According to Yang, the solution lies in the abstraction and unification of chains.
While Layer 2s have been gaining attention and are essential for moving computation off of Layer 1s to improve scalability and user experience, Yang explained that they have limitations related to bandwidth. He emphasized that Layer 3s, running on top of Layer 2s, provide full bandwidth and sovereignty for specific applications, unlike the shared bandwidth of Layer 2s. Additionally, L3s can be customized and optimized for specific use cases, offering several benefits in terms of scalability, speed, price, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Yang emphasized that the success of Layer 2s is crucial for the emergence of Layer 3s. As many Layer 2s have recently launched their mainnets, L3s are expected to follow suit. He also discussed zkLink’s recent launch of the zkLink Nova platform, which aims to unify liquidity fragmented across different Ethereum Layer 2s and provide unified access to different Layer 2s.
In addition to discussing the technical aspects of zkLink’s solutions, Yang highlighted the company’s partnerships and future plans for the ecosystem.
