Coinbase International Exchange and Coinbase Advanced Launch Pre-Release Markets
Coinbase has revealed that its International Exchange and Coinbase Advanced platforms are now introducing pre-release markets.
As per an official statement from Coinbase, the pre-release markets will permit eligible retail users to engage in trading perpetual futures contracts for unreleased tokens, engaging in price discovery for upcoming projects.
Pre-Release Markets for Unreleased Cryptocurrencies
Eligible institutional users can utilize this new feature through Coinbase International Exchange, while retail traders can access it via Coinbase Advanced. These traders have the opportunity to take long or short positions on tokens that have not been launched yet, with leverage of up to 2x.
Once the underlying token is listed on relevant spot exchanges, the contracts will automatically transition into standard perpetual futures contracts. The pre-release markets will be accessible in eligible regions excluding the U.S., U.K., and Canada.
The announcement indicated that pre-release markets will function differently from traditional perpetual futures markets, featuring a distinctive index price mechanism and conversion risks.
Furthermore, pre-release markets carry heightened risks, including lower liquidity, increased volatility, and elevated liquidation risk. These factors may result in greater fluctuations and potential losses compared to standard perpetual futures markets.
Coinbase Collaborates with Fireblocks Network
Coinbase International Exchange had previously formed a partnership with Fireblocks Network to provide perpetual futures and spot trading features to institutional and retail clients in specific regions.
Fireblocks, a blockchain security service provider specializing in secure transfer, storage, and issuance of digital assets, will enable Coinbase International Exchange customers to link their accounts using its network.
“By expanding our offerings for institutional and retail clients, this partnership highlights our dedication to delivering a robust and dependable trading infrastructure for our global clientele,” stated Coinbase International Exchange CEO Usman Naeem.
The international division allows institutional investors outside the U.S. to engage in trading perpetual cryptocurrency futures, following the introduction of derivative offerings to clients in 2023.
