Web3 Games on Telegram: Inco and Privy Collaborate to Develop Non-Custodial Dapps on the Popular Social Media Platform

In an exciting partnership, developers now have the opportunity to create non-custodial, on-chain Web3 games and products as Telegram Mini Apps (TMAs). Inco, the creators of a universal confidentiality layer for Ethereum and other networks, has joined forces with Privy, an embedded wallet provider that simplifies the onboarding process for crypto app developers.

With this collaboration, developers can directly engage with users on Telegram, a widely-used social media platform with a staggering 900 million users worldwide. By building decentralized apps (Dapps) as TMAs, developers can offer a user-friendly experience and tap into a vast pool of retail users, as stated in the press release.

These web apps operate within Telegram Messenger, allowing users to access them in individual or group chats. More specifically, users can launch an embedded web interface that offers a browsing experience similar to other popular in-app browsers, making it incredibly convenient. To start using a TMA, users simply need to initiate a chat conversation with the app’s Telegram handle.

As an example, the team highlighted a poker game that runs entirely on-chain. With the implementation of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), players no longer have to trust the dealer. Instead, they can verify their play, thanks to this advanced encryption technology.

Notably, Inco has already developed a number of demo apps, including Slot Machine (@inco_slots_demo_bot) and Hangman (@IncoHangmanGameBot). Both of these games utilize FHE for on-chain confidentiality and randomness.

Inco, a confidentiality-focused Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) powered by FHE, allows developers to build decentralized apps and mini-games that seamlessly integrate with their wallet providers. These games encompass various types, such as slot machines, card games, guessing games, and prediction markets, introducing new forms of gameplay with confidential elements.

Moreover, while many TMAs provide their own custodial wallets, which pose security risks, developers can now integrate Privy SDK to offer self-custodial wallets. This ensures that users can securely access on-chain experiences from Telegram. Additionally, developers can freely access Inco’s open-source repository to start building similar experiences within the platform.

To elaborate further, the team explained that Telegram Mini Apps can be developed using popular web development standards like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/React. Building a Web3 product as a Telegram Mini App offers several advantages, including automation with Telegram bots, embedded monetization opportunities, and cross-platform experiences that synchronize session history across web and mobile app deployments.

Max Segall, the COO of Privy, believes that this partnership will enable developers to connect with their users on Telegram, where many of them are already present. Remi Gai, the CEO of Inco, predicts that building decentralized apps directly within Telegram will become the next trend and contribute to the development of the Web3 industry.

“Easy-to-access, share, and scalable apps represent a new wave of dapps,” Gai added.
