While Trump’s attendance has not been officially confirmed by the event organizers, a recent report by Axios disclosed ongoing negotiations between the two parties. This potential appearance comes at a time of increasing political interest in crypto, with Trump publicly expressing his support for Bitcoin and criticizing President Joe Biden’s approach to crypto regulation.
Should Trump speak at the event, it could be a strategic move in his bid to gain support from the crypto community ahead of the upcoming elections. During a fundraising event in San Francisco, Trump referred to himself as the “crypto president” and reaffirmed his commitment to the industry’s advancement, while cautioning against the Democratic Party’s potential for stringent regulations.
However, a report from TD Cowen suggested that despite Trump’s recent pro-crypto stance, he might revert to being a crypto skeptic if elected, and his statements during the first presidential debate of the 2024 election will be a significant indicator of his potential regulatory approach. If he suggests anything other than total support, there is the possibility that he will return to the skeptical approach from his first term if re-elected.
