Telegram-based crypto game Hamster Kombat has become a sensation in Iran, captivating local users who eagerly await its upcoming token launch. The game, which involves tapping the screen to oversee a fictional crypto exchange as a hamster CEO, has gained immense popularity, with the developers announcing a staggering 200 million players. This number represents a significant increase from the previously reported 150 million players. The game’s success is evident from its massive social media following, including the largest Telegram channel with nearly 44 million subscribers. However, the Iranian government is not pleased with the game’s growing influence, viewing it as undue Western interference during a time when Iranians face economic challenges and upcoming elections. Despite the criticism, Hamster Kombat’s developers plan to launch a token on The Open Network (TON) in July, following the success of a similar game called Notcoin. TON has been outperforming Ethereum in terms of daily active addresses, further fueling the Hamster Kombat phenomenon.
